If you are ever in the Milwaukee metropolitan area with your favorite canine companion, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Granville Off-Leash Dog Park, 11718 W. Good Hope Place, Milwaukee, WI. The park is just north of Good Hope Road and west of U.S. Hwy 45 along the banks of the Menomonee River. Woooohoooo! Water!!!

This 25-acre area has the distinction of being Milwaukee's first dog park where dogs can exercise and socialize off-leash. It features grass-covered rolling hills, open fields, woody trails and access to the Menomonee River.

National Park Service Will Waive Entrance Fees During National Park Week Annual Celebration: April 17 to April 25, 2010

From Acadia National Park in Maine to Zion National Park in Utah, all 392 U.S. national parks will have free admission during National Park Week, April 17 to 25. Parks will also offer additional family friendly activities and special offers on tours, lodging, food, and souvenirs. Dogs on leash are allowed in many of the national parks. Be sure to check the National Park Service Web site for the pet rules at the park you want to visit with your best friend!

Amenities include Water fountains (dog), Doggie bags, Seating, 2 Fenced Areas (one area for small and frail dogs; a second area for dogs over 30 pounds), Off-leash, Grass, Handicap accessible, Parking (free). Dog Beach of the Day: Fiesta Island in Mission Bay

Fiesta Island is one of the dogs' favorite places to go in all of San Diego County! Just mention the word "Fiesta" and they are ready to jump in the car and go go go!

Fiesta Island offers a 5.2 mile asphalt path around the island for dogs walkers. There is a 97-acre dog park located on the southwestern section of Fiesta Island. Hours are from 6:00 a.m. - 10 p.m. everyday.

Dog Beach of the Day

Del Mar North Beach (aka Dog Beach)
This is one of our favorite places to take the dogs for a romp in the ocean with their furry friends. Located in Del Mar, California on Camino Del Mar north of 29th Street to the border of Solana Beach. Dogs are able to run leash free, under voice control of the owner, from the day after Labor Day through June 14th. Dogs must be on a leash between June 15th and Labor Day. Amenities include doggie waste bags, portable toilet, handicap accessible and paid/permit parking. This beach is open from sunrise to 10 pm daily.

San Diego dogs and their owners will be happy to know that a new iPhone and iTouch app has just been released that will make their outings much more fun!

San Diego Dog Parks App is a comprehensive guide to over 200 municipal, county, state and federal dog-friendly parks, beaches and trails throughout San Diego County.

The app includes leash requirements, amenities, hours of operation, phone contact information and park Web sites. An interactive map utilizes GPS to locate the closest dog parks, browse the entire county and get turn-by-turn directions. You will also have the ability to save Favorites.

PS: In the next few weeks we will be releasing additional apps for various regions including Milwaukee Metro, Los Angeles and Orange County, California. Also, the apps will be iPad-ready.
